Prisoners in New Mexico are offering their solidarity and support for the families of victims of Saturday’s mass shooting in El Paso, Texas.
Inmates at Otero County Prison Facility, a privately-run institution located about half an hour north of El Paso, are hosting a baked potato sale Friday to benefit the victims of the massacre and their families.
The three-hour event will be held internally and funds will be sent to the El Paso Community Foundation, according to Sandra Wesley, a manager at the Otero facility.
Wesley said the maximum-security prison, which has a capacity of 1,418 inmates, often hosts fundraising events to benefit people in need.
