A teen has been arrested in connection with the murder of a transgender woman of color in Southwest Miami last week.
According to Miami-Dade police, William Watson, 17, was arrested on Monday. He faces charges of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting Kiki Fantroy in the early hours of July 31, ABC-affiliated station Local 10 reported.
According to NBC Miami, officers said that they arrested the teenager for an unrelated case, but he then admitted to shooting 21-year-old Kiki Fantroy to death.
On July 31, Fantroy was coming home from a party with friends, when she was approached by a group of men who wanted to have sex with her.
She refused the advances, and the suspect began shooting at another person of the group. He then ran after Fantroy, and shot her multiple times in the upper torso.
Fanrtoy was taken to the Jackson South Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
